The PSOE-M deputy in the Madrid Assembly, Javier Guardiola, has accused Isabel Díaz Ayuso of following Javier Milei's model to weaken public services. During his interview this Wednesday on 'Noticias de Verdad', from 'ElConstitucional.es', the socialist pointed to salary policies, scholarships, and the management of healthcare and education as examples of this affinity.
Guardiola recalled the International Medal of the Community of Madrid that Ayuso presented to the Argentine president on June 21, 2024, at the Royal Post Office House. The distinction was officially awarded in recognition of the historical, cultural, linguistic, and economic ties between Madrid and Argentina, but the deputy believes that the tribute also expressed a political identification.
"Ayuso rewarded Milei as an example to follow and gave a medal in the name of all Madrilenians," he reproached. For the socialist parliamentarian, the Argentine president represents the model of government to which the regional president aspires, a comparison he developed when addressing her decisions on salaries and study aid.
"When the minimum wage is raised in Spain, the one who criticizes it is Ayuso," Guardiola stated. The deputy linked this opposition to the Argentine Executive's salary policy and extended his criticism to the differences between the Government of Spain and the Madrid government regarding scholarships.
"The Government of Spain is at a record for scholarships, and Ayuso has not stopped cutting the number of scholarships," he maintained. Guardiola presented this contrast as another example of what he considers a coincidence between the priorities of the Madrid president and those of Milei.
Regarding healthcare, education, and social services, the socialist placed Madrid as the main scene of cuts in the country, according to his assessment. In his opinion, this deterioration responds to the same purpose of reducing the role of public institutions that he attributes to the Argentine president.
Guardiola took his accusation to the realm of the alleged personal enrichment of both leaders. When describing what he considers Ayuso's actions, he spoke of "personally enriching oneself, as Milei has done, to destroy the State from within," and specified that, in the case of the regional president, he refers to "the Community of Madrid from within."
