The Government of Argentina has officially confirmed that the president, Javier Milei, will travel to Madrid next week, in a visit that takes place on the eve of the snap general elections called in Spain for November 29. This is the seventh trip of the Argentine president to Spanish territory since he assumed the Presidency in December 2023, and, according to the information released, the objective is once again to support right-wing formations during the campaign.

The Argentine presidential spokesman, Adrián Ravier, has ratified the visit in his usual appearance, in which he also specified that he will accompany Milei in the entourage and that the delegation will be in the Spanish capital on Tuesday, October 20. “It is a trip that also has its scheduled agenda. When the details are available, we will inform them,” Ravier said.

An agenda with political messages and support for ideological partners

According to the newspaper 'Clarín', the president will begin the trip on Monday, October 19 and will take advantage of the tour to confront the Government of Pedro Sánchez again and show support for his ideological partners, presumably the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, with whom he maintains a close affinity. However, he could also make gestures towards the Partido Popular, specifically towards the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

Milei's international strategy responds, according to the available information, to his interest in positioning himself in foreign electoral processes and strengthening his political influence on a global scale. This approach was underlined this Sunday by the Foreign Minister of the South American country, Pablo Quirno, who emphasized the weight of the president's support and assured that, in the last seven elections held in the region during the last ten months, “all candidates supported by President Milei won.”

Explicit support for Trump and Flávio Bolsonaro

In the same vein, Adrián Ravier highlighted this Tuesday Milei's support for the president of the United States, Donald Trump, ahead of the next midterm elections to be held in that country on November 3, and also for the far-right Flávio Bolsonaro, who will face the current Brazilian president, Lula da Silva, in the second round on October 25.

“Of course, Javier Milei's support for Bolsonaro is explicit, and the idea that Brazil can also join the economies that are embracing the ideas of freedom. We are optimistic for the runoff (second vote held between the two most voted candidates in the first) and the result will be seen shortly,” the Argentine presidential spokesman highlighted, referring to the second vote between the two most voted candidates in the first round.
