The leader of the French far-right party National Rally, Marine Le Pen, has this Friday lashed out at the Spanish Government, which she has accused of "encouraging the massive entry of migrants" after the migratory crisis situation that the autonomous city of Ceuta has been facing since this Thursday and which has left a toll of 19 deceased migrants when thousands of them arrived in the city swimming from Morocco.
Through a message disseminated on the social network "X", Le Pen has asked the French Executive to reinforce border controls. "Given the massive and coordinated entries of migrants into Spain, encouraged by the Spanish Government, France must without delay reinforce controls at its borders," she expressed. In addition, she has assured that in 2027 they would put an end to this "madness" "by reserving the free movement of the Schengen area to nationals of the European Union."

In this same vein, the French Minister of the Interior, Laurent Núñez, has confirmed the activation of the Rapid Intervention Border Force with the objective of carrying out "in-depth controls" and has assured that he has contacted his Spanish counterpart Fernando Graned-Marlaska, to take measures in case there were "movements towards national territory".

New diplomatic front between Spain and Italy
The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, raised last Thursday the possibility of closing the Schengen area with Spain, considering that the migratory situation in Ceuta puts European security at risk. Tajani has attributed this crisis to a supposed massive regularization promoted by the Spanish Government, in which the granting of citizenship to "more than 500,000 irregular immigrants" would have propelled human trafficking. For this reason, he has called for strengthening border measures.
In response to these statements, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, has responded by calling them "unbefitting a Foreign Minister of a partner and friendly country" and demanding "European solidarity and not partisan demagoguery." Likewise, he has denied that the current migratory crisis in Ceuta is due to massive regularization, assuring that they are related "to a court ruling."
