FIFA is evaluating possible sanctions for members of the Argentina national team who were involved in regrettable incidents at the end of the World Cup final

One of the incidents that FIFA will investigate is the one that triggered the entire brawl. Argentine player Nahuel Molina punched Spain's captain Rodri in the stomach, as the midfielder ran from the bench to the field to celebrate the victory with the rest of the team. Immediately, the Spaniard reproached Molina for the punch, confronting him, which seconds later would turn into a massive fight. In the center of the fight, Eric García tried to mediate and make peace, when Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes arrived and grabbed Eric by the neck. Immediately after, Gavi arrived to defend his teammate, and ended up being knocked to the ground by Thiago Almada and Paredes himself, who finally saw the red card.

Apart from Nahuel Molina and Paredes, FIFA's investigation will also include the action of Roberto Ayala, assistant coach to Lionel Scaloni. This is because he was also caught throwing a punch at Dani Olmo during the brawl. In addition to the altercations on the pitch, FIFA will also study the behavior of several members of the Argentine delegation during the trophy presentation ceremony, after they remained with their backs turned while Spain lifted the World Cup, a gesture that has also generated significant controversy.
