Two arrested after attacking civil guards in Ceuta and three others injured by a drug boat in Murcia: "They risk their lives with inferior means"

An intervention by the Guardia Civil to stop a fight with knives and switchblades ended this Wednesday with two men arrested for assaulting several agents on Trampolín beach in Ceuta. The arrested individuals are of Moroccan nationality, between 20 and 30 years old, and are accused of an alleged crime of assault against an agent of authority.

The events occurred around 7:00 AM. The civil guards on duty in the area observed a brawl between several migrants in which various bladed weapons, including knives and switchblades, were being used, according to sources from the Armed Institute cited by Europa Press.

The agents approached to separate those involved and control the situation. The two men then violently lunged at them while shouting in Arabic, according to the account of the consulted sources. The reference to bladed weapons corresponds to the fight that originated the intervention, while the aggression against the civil guards has been described as a physical attack.

Both were subdued, arrested, and placed at the disposal of the judicial authority. The information known so far also does not specify the extent of the injuries suffered by the agents who participated in the operation.

The brawl occurred in a part of Trampolín beach where there is a significant concentration of migrant people after the massive entry on July 30 and 31. Many remain in an irregular situation and without stable accommodation while the identification and reception efforts deployed in the autonomous city progress.

The episode adds to other violent incidents recorded in recent days in that environment. Days ago, a group threw a Molotov cocktail at several soldiers, according to information provided by the police union Jupol. Another similar device was used hours later against protesters demonstrating against the crisis management.

Health sources assure that medical services are attending "daily" to migrant people with injuries caused by bladed weapons. These episodes affect specific individuals within a very large and diverse population that arrived in Ceuta during the border crisis.

The Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) reported this Wednesday another serious incident suffered by agents of the Armed Institute, this time in the waters of the Region of Murcia. The two crew members of the vessel were arrested after the collision. One of the civil guards needed five stitches, while AUGC has not yet detailed the injuries of the other two agents or the exact location of the pursuit.

"We are once again close to tragedy in our waters," warned the association, which accuses the Government of keeping agents with "inferior means against organized drug trafficking". The account released by AUGC is limited so far to the ramming, the arrests, and the balance of injuries, pending the Civil Guard providing more data on the operation and the possible crimes attributed to those arrested.

The attack comes just over a week after AUGC itself warned about the deficiencies of the Maritime Service on the Murcian coast. The only fast patrol boat available in the Region was out of service after more than 20 years of service and had to be temporarily replaced by a vessel displaced from Catalonia.

The association maintained that this reinforcement could maintain a constant speed, but lacked the necessary speed to catch up with the boats used by criminal networks. "It is not ideal for intercepting drug traffickers' boats," explained its spokesperson, Juan Montalbán, in statements collected by Murcia Plaza.

The Interior Ministry had sent that vessel to Cartagena to reinforce surveillance against drug trafficking and networks dedicated to the clandestine transfer of people. The report of the new ramming comes just days after civil guards warned of the speed difference between their patrol boats and the vessels they must pursue.
