Amancio Ortega will collect 1,617 million euros this Monday for the last payment of Inditex's fiscal year and will thus close a year in which he will receive 3,234 million in dividends from the textile company.
The founder and main shareholder of the Galician multinational will receive this amount through the companies Pontegadea Inversiones and Partler, with which he controls 59.294% of the group, a package equivalent to 1,848 million shares.
The figure exceeds the 3,104 million he received in dividends last year.
An increasing distribution, although with the structure already fixed
Inditex will distribute more than 5,454 million euros among its shareholders this year, after raising the dividend by 4.1%, to 1.75 euros per share. The remuneration policy combines an ordinary payout of 60% of profit with additional extraordinary dividends.
The payment is structured in two equal tranches: a first payment of 0.875 euros per share, corresponding to the ordinary dividend, which was already collected on May 4, and a second payment of 0.875 euros per share, consisting of 0.325 ordinary euros and 0.550 extraordinary euros, which will be paid now.
Record profit sustains the dividend, but the distribution remains concentrated
The company linked this remuneration to a record profit of 6,220 million euros, 6% more, a figure that reinforces the distribution but does not change the dominant weight of its main shareholder.
Ortega, who invests part of the dividends he receives from Inditex in the real estate sector, also controls the largest Spanish real estate company, focused on the purchase and management of large buildings, with assets in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Asia.
His daughter Sandra Ortega, with 5.053% of the firm and 157.48 million shares, will collect more than 275 million euros in dividends this year, compared to the 264 million she received the previous year. Half of that amount will be received on November 4.
