The price of diesel in the Peninsula has registered an accumulated rise of 0.326 euros per liter since the beginning of the month, according to FACUA data, standing at an average of 1.784 euros, with peaks reaching up to 2.205 euros in some service stations.

This price increase occurs despite the entry into force of the VAT reduction and the hydrocarbon tax promoted by the Government. Since then, the decrease in price has been only 0.179 euros per liter, a reduction that, according to the consumer organization, does not fully reflect the impact of the fiscal measures.

FACUA has denounced that some gas stations could be absorbing part of those reductions instead of transferring them to the final consumer, and has demanded from the Executive stricter control mechanisms and even the possibility of setting price caps to avoid these practices.

In this regard, the organization has already warned of possible irregularities in the application of the Government's anti-crisis plan and has linked the evolution of prices to international factors, such as geopolitical instability, which continue to push up the cost of fuels.
