The still spokesperson of the municipal group of Vox in the Madrid City Council, Javier Ortega-Smith, assures that he will attend next Tuesday's Plenary Session as spokesperson, despite the precautionary suspension of membership to which he was subjected. Last week, Arantxa Cabello was chosen as the group's new spokesperson. To which Ortega-Smith rebels against those who intend to relieve him of the position and assures that there is no formal majority of councilors that would allow a vote to give rise to leaving the position for Cabello.
"If the majority of councilors request it, I will have no problem calling a meeting and proceeding with that vote. As long as the majority of councilors do not consider it necessary, it makes no sense", states Ortega Smith, one of the four founders of Vox, who, like Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, has suffered a purge from the leader, Santiago Abascal. The party decided to provisionally suspend his membership for not accepting the resolution of the National Executive Committee to replace him. Ortega-Smith has defended his trajectory and experience with the party since its foundation, even showing his membership card.
It is expected that in next Tuesday's plenary session, Ortega-Smith defends his position without the support of the rest of the Vox councilors present in the Madrid City Council.
