The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has announced that this Monday afternoon, specifically at 3:15 p.m., "a new plane repatriating 22 Spaniards" will arrive in Spain. The double earthquake that has shaken Venezuela has caused the death of 41 Spaniards and 139 who remain missing and a total of 4,500 deceased.
"Today at 3:15 p.m. a plane will arrive repatriating 22 Spaniards, also Venezuelans and other Europeans," Albares stated in declarations before attending the Foreign Affairs Council (CAE) in Brussels.
Likewise, the opportunity will be taken to carry out the rotation of health personnel working in the START emergency hospital. On the other hand, he thanked Europe for its "solidarity" and described the death of the 41 Spanish citizens as a "misfortune."
The first plane repatriated 59 people
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and European Union, José Manuel Albares, attended 'Las mañanas de RNE' last week where he reported the arrival at Madrid's Adolfo Suárez airport of a flight from Venezuela with 78 people, of whom 59 were Spanish.
Minister Albares recalled on RNE the work of the Spanish health workers who are providing humanitarian and health aid after the earthquakes that have shaken the country and stated that Spain will be present in the reconstruction of Venezuela. However, regarding finding people alive, he regretted that "it is starting to be difficult" but that there is "hope."
Consular emergency lines remain active
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to call on Spanish citizens in Venezuela to use the enabled emergency channels. The department reminds that all consular assistance lines remain operational and that updated information can be consulted through the official profiles of the ministry and the Spanish Embassy in Caracas.
