The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, updated this Wednesday the balance of Spanish citizens affected by the double earthquake registered in Venezuela. According to the latest data provided by the Government, the number of fatalities already amounts to 36, while 138 remain missing and another 11 have been located under the rubble. In total, in the country there are 3,685 fatalities and 16,740 injured by the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes.
The Venezuelan government of Delcy Rodríguez estimates that the cost of reconstruction will exceed 6.7 billion dollars.
On Tuesday, a flight from Venezuela arrived at Madrid's Adolfo Suárez airport with 78 people on board, of whom 59 were Spanish. Minister Albares recalled in an interview on RNE the work of the Spanish health workers who are providing humanitarian and health aid after the earthquakes that have shaken the country and stated that Spain will be present in the reconstruction of Venezuela. However, regarding finding people alive, he regretted that "it is starting to be difficult" but that there is "hope."
