The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, held the Government responsible this Thursday for the "organization and planning" of the protests held against him during the party's events, such as those registered the day before in A Coruña and Avilés, and maintained that the objective of this "deliberate strategy" is to prevent citizens from knowing the party's proposals in the pre-campaign for the elections on November 29.
The events that Santiago Abascal starred in on Wednesday morning in A Coruña and in the afternoon in Avilés led to disturbances, with police charges, arrests, and injuries. In statements to the media in Burgos, the Vox leader stated that it was "violence organized by La Moncloa" with the intention of preventing him from alluding "to the mafia, to corruption, and to the political programs that present an alternative."
Complaint of harassment and messages about the campaign
According to Santiago Abascal, the Government delegates of the PSOE "allow counter-demonstrations a few meters away" from the places where Vox holds its events, something that, he said, happened in A Coruña. In his opinion, there is "a will to harass and create violence" that both police officers and attendees at the rallies suffer.
Among the demonstrators, Abascal pointed to "young Moroccans." In this context, he predicted that the Executive "will not condemn" this violence, although he considered that they will finally put an end to this "deliberate and planned strategy" because, according to his forecast, "it will not work for them."
The president of Vox also guaranteed that these episodes will not "scare" or "silence" them and assured that, during the pre-campaign and the campaign, his party will address issues such as "the trap of the 'grandchildren's law'", "the attempt to eliminate uncomfortable judges who investigate the family of Pedro Sánchez", "the presence of violent militias in the streets" and that the Executive "betrays and lies."
Abascal added that they will also defend national priority, deregulation and tax cuts, the end of the regulations of climatic, green, Agenda 2030 and gender fanaticisms, as well as the "remigration" of illegal immigrants and of those who, even being in a legal situation, commit crimes or live off social aid. "These are our proposals and we are going to defend them throughout these days despite the violence," he guaranteed.
Negotiations with the PP for a joint candidacy for the Senate
In other matters, Santiago Abascal appealed for prudence and discretion in the negotiations with the Popular Party (PP) to form a joint candidacy for the Senate with which to try to curb the growth of the block of the PSOE, Frente Amplio and the territorial lefts, which run united.
The leader of Vox limited himself to describing these conversations as "serious and important" and insisted that "the challenge" is to stop the lefts, whom he accused of wanting to "hinder the alternative." "We will do it and everyone can be sure that if there is little we can do, we will do it, and if there is a lot, we will also do a lot," he concluded.
