The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, defended this Thursday the statements of the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, in which he called the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, a “dictator”, and maintained that his own political language has moved in a similar line when he has described the head of the Executive as an “autocrat” and “tyrant-in-training”.

In an interview on El programa de Ana Rosa, Abascal pointed out: “The fact that he calls Sánchez a dictator and to say that we are facing an insult seems excessive to me. I have called him an autocrat and a tyrant-in-training because I have seen how he acts and how he assaults institutions”.

Reference to the diplomatic clash with Argentina

Santiago Abascal's words come after Javier Milei lashed out at Pedro Sánchez, whom he called a “dictator”, “corrupt” and “thief”, and encouraged to “kick the socialists out” of power. In the same context, the Argentine president defended that his “friends” Abascal and the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, have ideas to end the “decadence” in Spain.

Asked about these statements, the leader of Vox insisted that he maintains a critical political position with the Government, although he qualified the need to maintain proper forms on the institutional level. “Diplomacy is important and I, despite the forcefulness of my statements, try to maintain it”, he explained.

Abascal recalls Óscar Puente's attack

In that context, Santiago Abascal focused on the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, recalling that the member of the Government “called the president of Argentina a drug addict”, an expression that, in his opinion, also has consequences in the diplomatic and political sphere.

“Mr. Oscar Puente called the president of Argentina a drug addict and these things have consequences”, Abascal affirmed, while emphasizing that “one thing is a gratuitous disqualification and another is a political consideration that can be sustained”.
