The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, praised this Tuesday the "renewal" that the candidate of the Popular Party (PP) for the elections of November 29, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has opted for, in lists in which, as she highlighted, "the best and most experienced" of the region have been chosen and trust has been placed in "the bases and constancy".

"There can be no greater act of self-confidence than constantly renewing the organization you lead in defense of principles that transcend those of us who are here today. Because our work in politics must be temporary," said the regional leader during the presentation of the candidacies, held at the Espacio Jorge Juan in the capital.

Prominent names on the popular list

Ayuso congratulated Alberto Núñez Feijóo for having so many "good men and women" from "cross-breeding" to carry out the popular project, with special mention to the deputy mayor of Madrid, Inma Sanz; to the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Interior, Carlos Novillo, who occupies number 7 on the list; and to the Deputy Minister of Presidency and Local Administration, José Antonio Sánchez.

The regional president also stressed that the candidacy brings together "exceptional politicians" who have worked in the Community of Madrid as councilors, mayors or spokespersons and who, she said, "will become mayors very soon", in addition to praising the "talent" of people like Alma Azcurra, Jaime de los Santos, Paloma Martín or Eugenia Carballedo.

Ayuso focuses on Carlos Novillo and José Antonio Sánchez

In her speech, Isabel Díaz Ayuso focused a good part of her praise on Carlos Novillo, whom she defined as "the best" and to whom she attributed a career linked to nature, agriculture, livestock and the environment, in addition to his work as a firefighter. "Carlos is an agricultural engineer, so he has dedicated his career to nature, agriculture, livestock, the environment and on top of that he is brave and loves life, putting his own before that of others, because on top of that he is a firefighter, which is the most sacrificing thing there is," she said.

In the same vein, she indicated that he lets "go because this is all for the homeland", and maintained that, with Novillo, Spain would have "the best" at the helm because, in her opinion, that is how he has always worked, managing difficult situations in the Community of Madrid such as fires, pandemics, winter inclemencies or flash floods.

"Carlos has carried everything on his shoulders with a personal sacrifice that no one can imagine. When he finally had three days of vacation and was going with the children to Almería, he didn't even reach Ciudad Real and had to turn back because something happened," she added.

Regarding José Antonio Sánchez, Ayuso stated that he is the person who "best understands the rural world", as well as mayors and councilors, and that he is always "close when they have the slightest problem", attentive to "scratching out talent in every place".

Mayors, spokespersons and youth leaders also present

Ayuso also highlighted the presence in the candidacy of mayors of large municipalities such as Paloma Tejero, from Pozuelo de Alarcón; Rocío Alcántara, from Alcobendas; and Lucía Fernández, from San Sebastián de los Reyes, to whom she attributed the joint management of "more than 20,400 million euros". She also cited other mayors of smaller towns, such as Rafael García, mayor of Gargantilla de Lozoya at 80 years old.

To that group she added spokespersons who, she said, will "soon be mayors", such as Janette Novo, in Rivas, whom she described as a woman who knows "first-hand the evils of Bolivarian socialism"; or Antonio José Mesa, who "will bring joy back to Getafe", a town that, in Ayuso's words, lives in a situation of "absolute bitterness" on the part of leaders who "seem not to have understood the way of being and being" in the south of Madrid.

She also mentioned the president of Nuevas Generaciones, Ignacio Dancausa, whom she described as one of the people who best understands youth in Spain, "brave, courageous and committed", as well as the new leader of the organization at a regional level, Álvaro Picazo, whose "tattoo is the love for a free youth with a future".

Pedro Rollán and Inma Sanz, among the most prominent profiles

In the final part of her speech, the regional president referred to Pedro Rollán, candidate for the Senate, whom she defined as "the most voted mayor in Spain" and president of the Community of Madrid "in the most difficult times", in addition to describing him as "as good a manager as a good person".

Ayuso closed her praise with Inma Sanz, whom she described as "an exceptional woman who has excelled in every challenge she has had in her hands". "She is efficient, decisive, humble, kind, in short, she has it all," she concluded.
