Body travels to Ceuta to analyze the economic situation and see what support measures to take in the face of the migratory crisis

Carlos Cuerpo, First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, travels to Ceuta this Monday to analyze everything related to the city's economy and, consequently, to evaluate the necessary measures to support and back the autonomous city. Therefore, Cuerpo will meet this afternoon upon arrival with the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas.

To analyze the entire economic situation and consider certain measures for the place, the vice president will also meet with business associations, social agents, and companies, to be aware of everything in this area. According to sources from the Ministry of Economy, the objective of this visit to Ceuta is: "To deepen support for Ceuta, not only from a humanitarian and security perspective, but also an economic one."

The Government has been thinking about an economic support plan for the city for some time, so, to make it as fair and precise as possible, the Minister of Economy will travel there to get first-hand information and see which sectors may have been most affected during all these days of crisis. In the areas of tourism and commerce, at first glance, it seems that support measures will be taken that are yet to be specified, in addition to the amounts that will be sent for aid.

Cuerpo, apart from this trip, has already been attentive to Ceuta, participating in various coordination meetings organized by the Government. Last Monday, August 17, the last one took place, dealing with issues such as strengthening security in the autonomous city and caring for immigrants who still remain there after the massive entry at the end of July. And after that, Cuerpo will now travel in person to the city to see and address the problems firsthand. The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, already announced that the Government will allocate an additional 25 million euros for Ceuta to care for unaccompanied migrant minors who have arrived in the city during this migratory crisis. We will see what measures will be taken after this visit by the vice president.
