The Ministry of Defense has sent this Wednesday to the Prosecutor's Office and to the Duty Court of Ceuta the tortures and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatments that, according to Amnesty International, would have been committed by military personnel against migrants in the autonomous city.
The organization has warned in a report published this Wednesday of "a pattern" of practices that includes "beatings, harassment, humiliations and the theft of money and confiscation and breaking of mobile phones of migrants, regardless of their age, condition or gender", actions that it attributes, "in particular", to units of Regulares and the Legion.
Defense orders an internal investigation
According to the department headed by Margarita Robles, in addition to transferring the report to the judicial authorities, it has urged the Operations Command (MOPS) to open an internal investigation to clarify individual responsibilities.
The objective, Defense has indicated, is to clarify what happened and "preserve the good work and name of the Armed Forces", while the documentation sent is now in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office and the Duty Court of Ceuta.
