The resolution condemning footballers Rafa Mir and Pablo Jara for sexual assault crimes incorporates an added element that goes beyond the main ruling: the actions of the Local Police officers who attended the home where the events took place in September 2024.

The Valencia Court has ordered that a testimony be deduced from the statements made by three agents during the trial, considering that they could constitute a crime of false testimony. This decision opens the possibility for a different court to separately investigate the conduct of the police officers.

The magistrates highlight the contradictions between the versions offered by the agents and the victims' account, to whom they grant greater probative credibility. In their resolution, the court points out that both complainants described an attitude of “indolence” on the part of the agents and even claimed to have seen them interact with the accused in an inappropriate manner.

The ruling also notes relevant differences in the testimonies about what happened inside the villa, where the agents claimed to have heard versions that minimized or denied the assaults, while the young women maintain that they did not receive adequate protective action.

The court concludes that the versions are hardly compatible and considers a specific investigation into the behavior of the agents during the police intervention necessary.
