The spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana (ERC) in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has insisted on his proposal to form a plurinational left-wing bloc to run together in the next general elections, in an attempt to counter the possible majority of PP and VoxRufián has defended the need to build a broader alliance between pro-independence and left-wing parties, similar to the Ara Repúbliques coalition that ERC shared with EH Bildu, the BNG, and Ara Més in the European elections, although without detailing how that unitary space would be carried out. He argued that, without an agreement, the different political forces could see themselves "politically eliminated one by one"The Republican leader published a message on social media in which he urged to bet on "less purity and more common sense" and warned of the risk of giving in to the advance of PP and Vox if the left does not coordinateHowever, the ERC leadership has distanced itself from this initiative and clarified that the party does not contemplate a common electoral coalition with other political forces as part of its agenda. The ERC spokesperson in the Parliament, Esther Capella, has stressed that ERC “is where it has always been” and that, although it collaborates with other formations in different areas, there is no project for a stable alliance on the table for the state elections
