The leader of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has accused the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, of "deceiving" citizens with the housing decrees and has announced that his group will vote against their validation in the Plenary Session of Congress that will be held this Friday.
"I am not going to support a cheating Government. Spaniards do not deserve a cheating Government," Alberto Núñez Feijóo stated to the media in the corridors of Congress, after several ministers had urged him during the Executive's control session to clarify the Popular Group's vote.
Criticism of the Executive's housing policy
The president of the PP has maintained that the Government has been "incapable of implementing a minimally sensible housing policy" over the last eight years and has reproached that, to this day, they still "do not know the literal text of one of the two decrees that it seems the Council of Ministers approved" this Tuesday.
In his speech, Alberto Núñez Feijóo stressed that the situation "exceeds all acceptable limits in a democracy" and denounced that the Executive has approved, according to his version, two royal decrees that contradict each other. "The Government yesterday approved two royal decrees in which one of them repeals the previous one. The Government has approved two incompatible norms," he pointed out.
The popular leader added that "whoever votes for a trap is another cheater" and defended that he is not.
Response to PNV and Junts
Asked about the possibility that the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) and Junts could push through the Executive's housing measures, Feijóo responded with a message directed at both formations: "It's up to the Basque Nationalist Party and Junts if they want to be part of a trap. They will know why."
