The leader of the Popular Party and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, accused this Thursday the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, and the PSOE of intending to "manipulate" Spaniards with housing, a political offensive that, in his opinion, "will not pass".
Feijóo spoke before the National Executive Board of the PP, the party's highest body between congresses, a day after the death of Maricarmen Abascal, the 87-year-old woman who was evicted two weeks ago from her home in the Madrid neighborhood of Retiro, although in his speech he did not make a specific mention of her case.
Criticism of the Government's management in the last eight years
During his speech, the president of the PP harshly criticized the Government's housing policy in the last eight years and assured that, during that time, evictions have occurred. "97 evictions daily, Mr. Sánchez. 97 evictions daily during your years in government. We have seen it," he emphasized.
According to Feijóo, the PSOE's attempt to focus the general election campaign on housing responds to a strategy to "manipulate everything" and "everyone", which is why he urged his party not to fall into that dynamic.
"It won't pass," warns Feijóo
The popular leader asked his people to avoid what he described as an "emotional manipulation of Spaniards" and defended that they must avoid "falling into their traps", while maintaining that the way to "dismantle every deception" is to "tell the truth". "I tell you, it won't pass," he stressed before the national leadership of the party.
