Feijóo activates the "countdown" to dislodge Sánchez from Moncloa and promises a "thorough cleaning" if he comes to power: "The ground zero of corruption"

The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has declared the "countdown" for a change of Government in Spain to have begun and has placed corruption as one of the main axes of his offensive against Pedro Sánchez. During his appearance to review the political course at the national headquarters of the PP, the popular leader defended that the socialist Executive is "exhausted" and has presented the upcoming elections as an opportunity to open a new political stage and carry out an institutional reconstruction.

Feijóo has directly pointed to the President of the Government as the main political responsible for the cases affecting the PSOE and its environment. "To find the ground zero of the greatest corruption in our democracy, one does not have to go to the Canary Islands, nor to Navarra, nor to Valencia. Ground zero is in Moncloa. Mr. X is Sánchez himself and his total absence of moral standards," he stated.

The president of the PP has insisted that there is a connection between Sánchez's rise to power and the appearance of the various scandals that, according to his interpretation, have splashed the Executive and the socialist party. "There is a cause-and-effect relationship between Sánchez's arrival in Government and corruption invading everything around him," he declared during his speech.

In this vein, Feijóo has assured that the judicial investigation will allow all the details of the open cases to be known and has appealed to the role of judges. "Everything will be known" thanks to the work of an "independent" Justice, he pointed out, while defending that time will not favor the President of the Government, but Spain, which "deserves and will have the truth."

The popular leader has also reviewed the cases affecting leaders linked to the PSOE and the Executive's environment. "We will see the other cases of Ábalos, the development of those of Santos Cerdán, what is in the hydrocarbons case; we will see Zapatero's secretary and daughters in a court and Sánchez's wife in the dock before a jury," he affirmed, adding that it will also be known "if there is illegal financing."

From the Popular Party, they defend that Pedro Sánchez's legislature began marked by agreements with his investiture partners after not having won the general elections and consider that the mandate has been conditioned by corruption cases, the lack of legislative progress, and the "institutional degradation". In Génova, they maintain that the current moment opens a new political phase and that the countdown to a change of government has already begun.

Feijóo has emphasized that the PP's project is not limited to replacing the current Executive but aims to promote a deep transformation of institutional functioning. "In the same way, I know that the responsibility of ensuring that Spain does not go through this again falls to us, to the PP. And we will not fail. For decency to return to Moncloa, Sánchez must first leave there. And then the institutional reconstruction of our country will begin. It will not be a handover; it will be a thorough cleaning," he promised.
