Alberto Núñez Feijóo begins to name the Popular Party's campaign for the general elections on November 29. Ester Muñoz will be his electoral spokesperson and Alma Ezcurra will be in charge of drafting the program. The PP leader will communicate both appointments this Thursday to the National Executive Committee, convened in Madrid to activate the party for the election.

Muñoz will maintain her position as spokesperson for the popular group in Congress and will also assume the daily defense of the electoral message. She will share this task with Borja Sémper, national spokesperson for the PP. Ezcurra, deputy secretary of Sectoral Coordination and MEP, will direct the drafting of the proposals with which Feijóo will ask for votes.

Both belong to the team that the popular president reinforced in his last congress. Muñoz became parliamentary spokesperson in 2025, when Miguel Tellado became secretary general. Ezcurra has worked for years in the drafting of PP political documents and participated in the report of its last national congress.

Tellado aims to lead the campaign

Feijóo will reveal the rest of the electoral committee this Thursday. Miguel Tellado is, for now, the best placed to assume the direction of the campaign, according to PP sources cited by Europa Press, although his appointment has not yet been announced. The secretary general is one of the candidate's most trusted people and was already in charge of coordinating candidacies in the 2023 general elections.

The division of tasks changes compared to those elections. Then Elías Bendodo coordinated the campaign, Cuca Gamarra was in charge of the program and Sémper served as spokesperson. Now Feijóo places Muñoz at the forefront of communication and entrusts the electoral content to Ezcurra, while preparing an agenda that, according to his party, will take him through all autonomous communities.

The pre-campaign began this Wednesday in Ceuta, where Feijóo supported the city's president, Juan Jesús Vivas, and focused his speech on the summer migration crisis. On Saturday he will share an event at Ifema Madrid with the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida.

Postal voting bursts into the electoral start

The appointments come as the PP is still trying to organize its discourse on postal voting. Ayuso asked citizens to avoid this modality given the possibility of an alleged "rigging". Sémper later defended that the electoral system is guaranteed, while Ester Muñoz said she understood those who distrusted and recommended them to vote in person.

Feijóo spoke this Wednesday in Ceuta. He recalled that he was president of Correos and affirmed that he trusts the postmen and employees of the public company, but he questioned its executives. He also announced that the PP will propose "additional measures" for postal voting to the Central Electoral Board, without specifying which ones yet.

The popular leader has linked his distrust to judicial investigations affecting a former head of Correos. These investigations do not prove manipulation of the postal vote. The request for postal suffrage goes through the Electoral Census Office, its sending is done by certified mail and the polling station incorporates the envelope into the ballot box after checking the voter's documentation.

Muñoz will now have to explain the PP's position on a controversy that has marked the first days of the pre-campaign. On Thursday, when Feijóo gathers the Steering Committee, the party will also know who will lead the electoral operation and how responsibilities will be distributed until November 29.
