The president of the Popular Party and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, returns this Wednesday to Ceuta, where he will once again show his support to the president of the autonomous city, Juan Jesús Vivas, for his management after the massive entry of around 80,000 irregular migrants on July 30 and 31.

The visit comes a day after both coincided in Madrid, at the Senate's award ceremony of the Gold Medal to the presidents of Ceuta and Melilla, a recognition of their political careers and institutional support for both cities after the crisis that opened at the end of July.

During that event, Juan Jesús Vivas defended the Spanishness of both enclaves and called for strengthening the presence of the State, with a phrase that synthesized his message: "Ceuta is not for sale, Ceuta is defended, Ceuta is Spain".

The PP insists that normality has not been recovered

Sources from the PP have announced that, in this new trip, Feijóo will also reiterate his "resounding commitment to the Spanishness" of Ceuta and also of Melilla, after what the party describes as "the invasion" suffered more than two months ago.

According to the same sources, the leader of the popular party will also convey his support to the people of Ceuta "in the difficult situation they suffer daily more than two months after this attack" on the "territorial integrity" of Spain.

From Génova they maintain that normality has not yet been recovered and denounce that many residents feel afraid to go out into the street due to the insecurity situation. In contrast, the President of the Government defended this Tuesday that "the situation of the autonomous city is improving" and asked for collaboration from the autonomous communities to provide a solution for migrant minors.

This Wednesday will be Feijóo's fifth visit to Ceuta. In addition, it is his first trip after Pedro Sánchez's announcement to dissolve the Cortes and bring forward the general elections to November 29. The last time he visited the autonomous city was on September 21, accompanied by the president of the European People's Party (EPP), Manfred Weber, and several MEPs.

Arcadi España will also be in the city and the PP speaks of "frivolity"

The Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, will also travel this Wednesday to Ceuta, where he will hold a meeting with Juan Jesús Vivas at 10:30 a.m. in the Assembly Palace. Afterwards, he will meet with Ceuta businessmen and, at 1:00 p.m., he has called a press conference at the headquarters of the Government Delegation in Ceuta, as reported by the Executive.

This call coincides with the time Feijóo has summoned the media in the city, an overlap that has led the PP to denounce an attempt to "counter-program" the popular leader. Party sources have described this maneuver as "a frivolity typical of a government on the verge of a nervous breakdown", taking into account, they maintain, the difficulties experienced on the ground by citizens and by reporters.

The popular party has also assured that the Government not only uses La Moncloa to try to gain an advantage over the Popular Party, but also the Government delegations as "itinerant campaign headquarters" to snatch prominence from Feijóo in the territory. "Very nervous" they must be, they added, to try to mark the president of the PP even at the cost of complicating the work of the media. "They are right to be afraid. In fifty-four days, 'sanchismo' will be over," sources from Feijóo's team affirmed.
