The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has warned his party officials that, in the "decisive weeks" remaining before the general elections on November 29, the objective is to convince voters "disappointed" with Pedro Sánchez's Government and those who are "angry", for which he has called for maximum mobilization in all corners of Spain.

"Work hard" and travel Spain

Before the National Executive Committee of the PP, which has given the green light to the campaign committee to be led by the general secretary, Miguel Tellado, Feijóo summarized his party's roadmap with a direct appeal to internal organization and contact with the electorate: "What is needed now is to work. Work hard, travel Spain, listen, explain, respond, convince, and finally win democratically in the next elections." The leader of the popular party has defended that Spain finally has "the opportunity to open a new era" and has positioned the change proposed by his party as a broader transformation, not limited to the replacement of an Executive, but oriented to "rebuild Spain and project it towards the future."

Feijóo has insisted that citizens will have the last word, and has stressed that "finally Spaniards will be able to speak, express their opinion and decide what they want to change and what country they want to build", making it clear that, in his opinion, "the only thing to celebrate is that finally" they can go to vote, "nothing more". The president of the PP has maintained that he knows what the street thinks because he walks it, in a veiled allusion to Pedro Sánchez, and has remarked that elections are not resolved by the atmosphere or by polls, but "person by person, vote by vote, and are won on election day." For this reason, he has asked not to take any election for granted until the closing of the last polling station, and has stressed that his party does not consider "any vote lost." In this context, he has said that the PP has "arguments to convince many people," both those who have always supported him and those who have stopped doing so.

Feijóo mentioned among these recipients "those who are disappointed with this Government and this policy", "those who are angry", "those who seek hope" and "those who only want Spain to function normally", and has assured that they must address all of them "with respect, with humility, with a project, with an idea of nation". The popular leader has reiterated that his party is going out to win the general elections and has asked his officials to "give it their all" so that on the 29th Spaniards can say that "finally" there is "change" in Spain. "Let no one confuse our enthusiasm with excessive confidence, our strength with arrogance and our eagerness with haste," he warned.

"The PP will not bow its head"

Feijóo has also anticipated "maneuvers" by the PSOE during the campaign and has given as an example what happened with housing after the death of Maricarmen, the octogenarian evicted from her home two weeks ago. From there, he has asked his leaders not to fall into "traps" and to respond to every attempt at manipulation with "the truth."

"Maneuvers are coming, last-minute promises, the use of institutions at their service, noise to cover up the balance sheet, and fear will come. They will try to generate it, they always do," the PP leader assured, before stressing that his party will not "bow its head" or let them get away with "anything."

"Neither big nor small, not one. We are not going to play their game, we are not going to fall into their traps, we are going to tell people the truth," Feijóo stressed, adding that "that business of believing themselves above good and evil" is over, as is "handing out democrat cards" or "that feeling of impunity."

The strategy of remembrance and final mobilization

According to the president of the Popular Party, the socialist strategy involves "collective amnesia", so he has asked his party to remember everything that has happened and not allow campaign announcements to cover up the facts. "They want Spain to forget, they want eight weeks of announcements to cover up eight weeks of facts. Well, we are going to remember everything," he said.

In that review, Feijóo stated that the PSOE has "abused power", has "stolen with both hands", has lied, has "auctioned off equality", has governed without budgets, has uncontrolled borders, has surrendered to regimes of other countries and has been incompetent.

The popular leader concluded his speech by insisting on the need to maintain enthusiasm, but without euphoria, and asked the organization to be "activated" at all levels, "from the first to the last", from regional presidents to newly incorporated members, including mayors, councilors and opposition officials, with the aim of listening and responding to what, he said, Spain wants.
