Forceful Aina Vidal against Vox for talking about "hunting migrants" and against the PP for "getting close and getting four votes stained by the far-right"

Aina Vidal, Sumar's deputy and party spokesperson, appeared today in the Congress of Deputies, delivering a direct and forceful intervention. Previously, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, had reported on the management in Ceuta and the current state of the migratory crisis. In response, Vidal addressed certain points to the Executive, however, her speech was much more focused on criticizing the PP and Vox for their handling of the immigration situation.

A large part of her speech was centered on Vox deputy, José María Figaredo, and his words against immigration. Vidal denounced Figaredo's words about "hunting migrants", and highlighted the seriousness of this message coming from a public representative: "He is not an anonymous person hidden behind an X account. He is a deputy of the Cortes Generales," Vidal said. But she did not stop there, she continued, saying that, "hunting is not a migratory proposal, nor a border policy, nor a security measure. It is a way of dehumanizing." "First they are presented as illegals, then as invaders or enemies, and finally as people who can be hunted." She also wanted to send a message against this type of action: "Words do have consequences and can end up legitimizing violent behaviors."

Following this line, Vidal wanted to emphasize that during this crisis in Ceuta, there were people, including children and minors, unable to eat or sleeping on the sand, and meanwhile, some spoke of a supposed "invasion." Consequently, she also denounced the various attacks against some improvised settlements made with whatever the migrants had: "How far do they want to go? Until they kill someone?"

On the other hand, Vidal also remembered Feijóo and the PP, criticizing the concept of patriotism defended by the PP leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. "Patriotism is not making a bigger and bigger flag, it is taking charge of your country's problems and not making them bigger." In addition to this, she also expressed that the PP leader not only does not avoid combating these discourses but approaches them only for electoral interest. "The problem with the Popular Party is that, instead of putting out that fire, they cozy up to Vox to try to warm themselves up a bit and get four votes stained by the far-right," concluded the Sumar spokesperson.
