Four minors from Ceuta have already been transferred to Extremadura despite the rejection of its vice president who belongs to Vox

Some days after the massive entry of dozens of migrant people into the autonomous city of Ceuta, hundreds of other people arrived in the city swimming from the sea. Some of this group of people were unaccompanied minors. The city took them in, and some of them have already been transferred to the Peninsula, thus complying with the Immigration Law, which mandates transfers in cases of migratory contingency that exceed reception places on the southern border.

Some of these transferred minors have been taken to Extremadura, a community where Vox has jurisdiction over minors. In this way, Extremadura has received four transfers in recent days, two children last week and two others this Tuesday. These movements have been signed and authorized by the Vox counselor.

Apparently, the transferred minors would have arrived in Spain between May and June. Right now, the Government is working to prioritize the transfer of 500 girls to the Peninsula as well. However, this operation has met with opposition from the Popular Party, which rejects this option. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is analyzing the possibility of carrying out these transfers of the girls, without ceding guardianship to the autonomous communities. And according to some estimates, as of today, there are around 2500 migrant minors in Ceuta.

This action combines the transfer to the Peninsula of about 500 migrant girls, the opening of temporary spaces for another 1,500 people, new economic allocations, and the reinforcement of police and judicial services. The economic support linked to the emergency reaches at least 37 million euros, although it comes from different allocations. The Executive allocated 25 extraordinary millions to care for minors, which are added to the 5.5 million assigned to Ceuta during the Sectoral Conference on Childhood in July. It has also allocated 6.5 million to the Red Cross to reinforce humanitarian, health, and social assistance.
