The head of the ERC list for the general elections, Gabriel Rufián, stated this Thursday that he wants Junts to be "useful" and to return to "Pujolism", and has maintained that the post-convergent formation should act as a Catalan right-wing party that, in his opinion, contributes to the independence objective in the future.
In an interview on Catalunya Ràdio, Rufián pointed out that he hopes Junts will be conservative, "that is, liberal", but also rational, and added: "Let them return to 'Pujolism'. That is, let them not imitate Orriols and Ayuso because some people think that's cool."
Support for a PSOE Government with pro-independence forces
Looking ahead to the general elections on November 29, the republican leader insisted that he wants a PSOE Government subject to pro-independence forces such as ERC, Bildu, BNG, or Compromís, and stressed: "I don't hide."
Rufián explained that he has the feeling that this is also the position of many people who do not vote for the PSOE, and remarked that he has "no damn desire" for the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, to be vice president.
ERC's response to Junts' criticisms
The republican deputy also lashed out at the criticisms from Junts for supporting the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and described it as shameful that from that formation they claim that ERC gave its support "for nothing."
"There are 9 people who were unjustly and miserably imprisoned who are at home. And for me, to hear half of these people, because they are from a certain party, say that we voted for nothing, it drives me crazy," he said.
Likewise, he considered it "very unfair and very miserable" that leaders such as the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, or the spokesperson for the formation in Congress, Miriam Nogueras, maintain that idea in the media.
