The president of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), Oriol Junqueras, assured this Tuesday that the party's spokesperson in the Congress, Gabriel Rufián, will repeat as head of the list in the general elections on November 29.
Asked about this issue in an interview on Ser Cataluña, Junqueras was emphatic: "He will surely be a candidate for Esquerra Republicana". The republican leader also stressed that ERC is a party with 95 years of history and defended that it is the "great reference party of the left in Catalonia".
Criticism of PSOE and Junts for financing and FLA debt
In the same interview, Oriol Junqueras accused PSOE and Junts of "blowing up" the new regional financing, the debt write-off of the Autonomous Liquidity Fund (FLA) and the Catalan governance of the Consortium of the Free Zone of Barcelona, due to partisan interests.
Junqueras defended the impact that this measure would have on family accounts and stated: "4,700 million from the pockets of families in this country is better than zero, for sure. And everyone knows it. And everyone knows how education, health, social services or infrastructure in this country are. It is a colossal absurdity. It is a proof of selfishness and insensitivity, of unconsciousness and irresponsibility on the part of both Junts and the PSOE".
The early election and ERC's conditions
Asked if he considers the early call for elections responsible, the president of ERC described it as such and pointed out that his party will set new conditions to support a possible PSOE government, although he maintained that it is "improbable" that the socialists will achieve a sufficient majority.
Junqueras also compared the role of Junts and ERC in their demands to the PSOE, including the official status of Catalan in Europe or the transfer of immigration powers to Catalonia, among others.
"The difference is that ERC has always supported what Junts proposed in Congress. Always. And, on the other hand, Junts has not supported anything from ERC", he stated.
