If the confrontation of the ultras who were part of the far-right party and its leader Santiago Abascal was already confirmed, the former vice-president of the Junta de Castilla y León for Vox, does not stop throwing poisoned darts at Abascal. Thus, the last occasion took place yesterday when the newspaper ‘ElMundo’ interviewed him.
The most striking headlines he left us were: “In Vox, only Abascal's pension plan will remain”,"There's dirty war: if you disagree, they expel you". However, the most serious and that would most affect the far-right leader is that Gallardo has accused him of collecting a third salary that he deposits into his wife's bank account. "I don't trust Abascal since I know he pockets a third salary, through a Vox provider, into his wife's current account, for alleged social media consulting services to a commercial company that is at a loss and in cause of dissolution," he declared.
As if these statements had not been enough, Abascal faces more problems today. In this context, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros and Javier Ortega Smith, have carried out a manifesto in which they demand the holding of an extraordinary congress of the party, with the aim of opening a deep debate on the political direction and internal functioning of the formation.
In this way they demand a congress open to all members and ask that it be held with “sufficient deadlines and clear rules,” in a way that allows a “complete review of the party's internal architecture”. They also defend an “open debate on leadership, organization, political orientation and government strategy”, insisting that their initiative does not seek to “impose an alternative candidacy” nor act against Vox. In one of the most prominent phrases of the manifesto, they maintain that “political loyalty is to ideas, not to people.”
