Felipe VI stated on Monday in a conversation he had with the ambassador of Mexico in Spain, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, at the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid, that in the conquest of America by Spain there was “much abuse”. However, Vox radicals have not taken these words well and several of the extremists have confronted the King, such as the party's spokesperson in Congress, Pepa Millán, and the MEP Hermann Tetsch.

In this context, Millán, at the press conference after the Council of Ministers, asked about this aspect, has stressed: “The Spanish enterprise in America was the greatest evangelizing and civilizing work in universal history, and the Spanish Crown did that”. Furthermore, she has described the Conquest as a “work” which was carried out, “respecting all the rights and dignity of all the subjects of the Crown then, as was reflected in the council of Isabella the Catholic”.

The Vox spokesperson has not been the only one to criticize Felipe VI. MEP Hermann Tersch published on his social network X: “Sir, my King Felipe VI, with all due respect, I remind you that there is “much abuse” now by a criminal government that plunders Spaniards.”

He continued: “(...)We are dumbfounded. In America, in the immense feat begun with the end of the reconquest, the end of the Muslim presence and the glorious leap across the Atlantic towards New Spain, there was above all and more than anything a civilizing miracle full of generosity, piety, ingenuity, service to the Spanish, indigenous and mestizos and devotion to the Crown of Spain.” And he concluded: “(…)Many of us do not understand your formal and almost habitual adherence to the theses of those who only seek harm and contempt for the history of Spain and the present of the Spanish people.”
