The awaited appearance of Koldo García before the investigation committee of the Parliament of Navarre has changed at the last minute after the former ministerial advisor suffered an accident in prison. The incident forced a modification of the format of his statement, which will finally be carried out by videoconference from the penitentiary center. According to known information, García hit his head with a weight of about 25 kilos while exercising in the gym of the prison of Soto del Real. After the incident, he was attended to in the center's infirmary and remained under observation for several hours as a precaution.

The medical report derived from the incident led Penitentiary Institutions to advise against his transfer to the Navarrese Parliament, where he was initially scheduled to appear in person to testify before the parliamentarians. Given this situation, the investigation committee decided to modify the format of the appearance and allow the former advisor to intervene remotely from prison. The session was scheduled to be held during the morning, although it could be delayed due to technical issues related to the connection.

García's appearance generates great political expectation in Navarra, as it is part of the parliamentary investigation into possible irregularities in public works contracts and their possible relation to the so-called "Koldo case". Koldo García was an advisor to the former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos and is in provisional prison while judicial investigations advance into an alleged corruption scheme linked to public contracts during the pandemic.
