Ángel Victor Torres, Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, and the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, held their first meeting this Tuesday, in which both managed to agree that the spaces to be enabled to house migrants will be designated "from consensus," meaning locations or sites that satisfy both leaders.
This Tuesday, it was also learned that the Government has approved the 'single command' in the autonomous city due to the migratory crisis in which Ceuta is immersed under the supervision of the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory. Following this news, this meeting between both leaders was the first to try to reach an agreement and do what is best for Ceuta.
In said meeting, the president of Ceuta and the minister agreed, regarding the Royal Decree (RD) on resources and facilities, approved this Tuesday in the Council of Ministers, that the list of spaces to house migrant people is a "maximum, modifiable, and flexible proposal developed from consensus." It has also been learned, according to some Ministry sources, that locations such as sports centers and some others have been included, which would be used "in case of an extreme situation," something that "is not expected to occur," however, they should not be overconfident and must be prepared for "an unexpected eventuality."
Minister Torres also announced that this Wednesday, he will preside over the Situation Committee for the management of the Ceuta crisis, which will be attended by President Vivas, representatives of all the ministries that are part of this collegiate body, as well as the Government Delegation. On the other hand, his Ministry has also communicated that there are some spaces not included in the Royal Decree, but which could still be added in the weekly updates that will occur. Finally, they emphasized that spaces could be used before being incorporated into the RD because it would be done "from consensus."
