Mónica Oltra faces her political return "with energy and great enthusiasm" after starting the race for the Mayoralty of València

"I face this new stage with energy, with great enthusiasm." With these words, Mónica Oltra defined this Monday how she faces her return to the political front line during an interview on 'La Hora de La 1'. The former Valencian vice-president assured that the last four years have served her to "observe" and "reflect", days after having been ratified by Compromís as a candidate for the Mayoralty of València for the 2027 municipal elections.

Compromís per València has formalized her candidacy during an extraordinary assembly held last Saturday in the Jardí Botànic de València. In that act, Oltra defended the creation of "a common and neutral space, not neutral, and committed", with the aim of building an open candidacy both to other progressive forces and to social groups and citizens.

The Valencian leader has opted to promote "a candidacy of the people that saves the people", convinced that the project should be built from dialogue and the participation of people beyond political parties. Among the priorities of her project, Oltra has placed access to housing and the urban model. In her speech, she stated that "the master of the city cannot be the private car" and defended a city designed for those who inhabit it throughout the year, in addition to advocating for accessible housing against a model that, she argued, prioritizes luxury developments.

Furthermore, the candidacy of the former vice-president has received the support of representatives of Esquerra Unida, Podem, Moviment Sumar, Esquerra Republicana del País Valencià, trade unions and neighborhood entities. Likewise, the former mayor of València, Joan Ribó, explained that the decision to present her as a candidate has been adopted unanimously by the Compromís executive.
