The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, assured this Thursday that the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, represents the model that PP and Vox want to "implement in Spain", in a press conference with the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, after the meeting they both held.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, the CEO of Rodalies, Òscar Playà, the president of Renfe, Álvaro Fernández, and the president of Adif, Luis Pedro Marco.
Puente stated that "the Spanish right is giving many clues about what it wants to do" and criticized the questioning of labor rights such as sick leave or the public nature of pensions. "It is evident that they have set their sights on pensioners' money. They consider that there is a business there, as they see it in healthcare, as they see it in education. And, therefore, it is clear, from a fundamental point of view, what they intend to do," he said.
Comparison between Milei's model and the Government's economic policy
The minister contrasted the management of Javier Milei with that of the Government of Pedro Sánchez and defended that, while in Spain there is a record number of Social Security affiliates, in Argentina 45% of workers do not have a contract and are paid under the table.
He also pointed out that the Spanish Executive has raised the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) by 66%, while Milei has reduced it by 40%, and added that in Spain 100,000 companies have been created under the current Government, compared to the 36,000 that, he said, have been destroyed in Argentina with Javier Milei's Executive.
"It turns out that socialism, when it comes to creating wealth, is better than the chainsaw," Óscar Puente concluded.
Illa calls for respect and censures insults
For his part, the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, demanded respect and censured the insults hurled against institutional representatives and journalists. "If a leader, in this case Mr. Milei, comes here to insult the president of the government and disrespect, insult journalists, it is not the best way to behave," he said.
"I hear many people who call themselves patriots. Everyone who is truly a patriot should condemn these insults to the legitimate representatives of the Government of Spain. And condemn the insults to journalists. That's not how you go through the world, that's not how you go through the world," he added.
Condemnation of the incidents in A Coruña
Asked about the incidents recorded on Wednesday night in A Coruña, due to the visit of the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, Puente stated that he had not seen what happened, although he stressed that he does not support "any type of violence" and that, if there have been altercations, he condemns them.
The minister also defended that November 29 is an opportunity "to stop fascism" with the vote and called for mobilization with the aim of avoiding having to spend four years taking to the streets to protest against a Government formed by PP and Vox.
Salvador Illa also condemned the incidents and "any type of violence, no matter where it comes from or who it affects".
