Leader Óscar Puente has refused to resign after the accident recorded last Wednesday in Toledo and has insisted that citizens deserve answers, while conveying his "solidarity and support" to the victims and their families.
"I understand that citizens demand explanations and that accountability be sought," said Puente, who added that at this moment "we are analyzing the facts" to clarify what happened.
"I will not use any worker as a shield"
In his statements, Óscar Puente flatly rejected any attempt to shift responsibility to third parties, and stressed that "I will not use any worker as a shield."
The leader also underlined that "my way of taking responsibility is to face the music," an idea he repeated by insisting that, at this moment, his priority is to respond to what happened and not enter into a debate about his continuity.
"I feel immense pain and enormous sadness"
Puente also expressed his regret for the accident and stated that he feels "immense pain and enormous sadness for the victims and families." In that vein, he added that "fatality exists and must be accepted."
"My obligation now is to solve the problem, not to talk about my continuity," insisted the leader, who defended that citizens do not expect errors not to be recognized, but that they not be hidden and that everything possible be done to prevent them from happening again.
