Víctor Ábalos, son of former minister José Luis Ábalos, has assured the Supreme Court that the money he gave his father was his property and came from his work as an intermediary for companies in Colombia, rejecting any role as a front man: “I am not a custodian of anything or anyone”. During his statement, the president of the court, Andrés Martínez-Arrieta, had to stop the popular prosecution, exercised by the PP, and remind that the witness had to answer about the investigated facts, not about his personal businesses, in a session in which he also denied payments to Koldo García.
The witness explained that his economic situation changed after his father's divorce and that it was then that he decided to help him with his own money, even resorting to financing to do so. He also denied having used encrypted phones or having maintained suspicious communications with Koldo García, assuring that expressions like “coffee” literally referred to Colombian coffee.
After his statement, other witnesses linked to the plot's environment appeared, such as the businessman Ignacio Díaz Tapia, partner of Víctor de Aldama, who limited himself to acknowledging specific dealings, and Joseba García, Koldo's brother, who chose not to answer questions on the advice of his lawyer.
