The president of the PNV, Aitor Esteban, has rejected the appeals from the Popular Party to gather the support of Basque nationalists in a potential no-confidence motion against Pedro Sánchez. The pro-independence leader has accused the popular party of incurring a deep contradiction by requesting their votes while maintaining agreements with Vox and facilitating their access to spaces of institutional power.

During an event held in Galdakao on the occasion of Alderdikide Eguna (Party Day, in Euskera), Esteban described the PP leaders as the "kings of insult and contradiction". According to his denunciation, the popular party demands the support of the PNV at the same time that they oppose historical demands of Basque nationalism, such as the official status of Euskera in the European Union or the full compliance with the Statute of Gernika.

"One must be politically blind if they truly think that this is how they will achieve the votes of the Basque Nationalist Party," he stated. The leader of the PNV insisted that his party maintains its own principles and priorities focused on Euskadi and questioned the strategy of those who seek their support while hardening their discourse against Basque nationalism.

Esteban also directed harsh criticism against the territorial pacts reached by the PP with Vox. In his opinion, it is incompatible to demand institutional responsibility from other parties while facilitating the entry of the far-right into governments and organs of power. "Is that the responsibility of a democratic and moderately centered party?" he asked.

The nationalist leader also took advantage of his intervention to lash out against EH Bildu, a party he accused of living installed in a permanent "anti-fascist mandate" that serves to justify any political position. In contrast, he claimed that the PNV focuses its action on issues related to employment, industry, and the well-being of Basque citizens.

Finally, Esteban accused EH Bildu of applying a "law of silence" both in the management of certain municipal affairs and in its attitude towards the controversies affecting the PSOE and the Government. According to his denunciation, while other left-wing forces have expressed concern about the scandals known in recent weeks, the abertzale coalition has chosen to remain silent, shielding itself in the fight against the right and the far-right.
