Minister Óscar Puente has once again turned a statement by the Popular Party into ammunition against its own authors. The Minister of Transport has responded with irony to Borja Sémper's promise that, when Alberto Núñez Feijóo reaches the Presidency of the Government, insult and bad manners will be banished from Spanish politics.
"When Feijóo is president of the Government, insult and bad manners will be banished," the national spokesman for the PP assured this Monday during the press conference after the Steering Committee. The phrase was intended to reinforce the image of moderation with which Génova seeks to present its candidate against the climate of confrontation that dominates the political debate.
Puente took advantage precisely of Sémper placing that change after an electoral victory for the PP. "It's another incentive they offer to citizens. If you want us to stop insulting, vote for us," the minister wrote on his X account.
Es otro aliciente que le ofrecen a la ciudadanía. Si queréis que dejemos de insultar, votadnos. https://t.co/idkqg6BJa0

The reply turns the PP's promise of verbal regeneration into a campaign condition. Under Puente's interpretation, the 'populares' would be asking for votes to then abandon a tension in which they also participate from the opposition and which in recent years has left constant disqualifications against Pedro Sánchez and the Government.
The exchange prolongs an open confrontation since Sémper's return to the political forefront. The popular leader already pointed in May to Puente and Santiago Abascal as examples of the normalization of insult and announced that he would avoid participating in "circuses" and confrontations of that type. The minister then responded by accusing him of hypocrisy and assured that he was "worse than Tellado" because he intended to project an image that, in his opinion, did not correspond to his behavior.
Sémper has resumed this Monday that banner of moderation to present a future Presidency of Feijóo as the starting point of a more educated politics. Puente, one of the most active ministers on social networks and most forceful in his clashes with the PP, has needed two lines to return the promise to Génova converted into an electoral jab.
