The PP explodes against the latest CIS barometer calling it a "joke" after keeping the PSOE as the most voted force: "Are we going to participate in this fiction?"

The national spokesman for the PP, Borja Sémper, has openly questioned the credibility of the latest barometer from the Center for Sociological Research (CIS), after the organization chaired by José Félix Tezanos has once again placed the PSOE as the leading political force. For the popular leader, the result does not fit with the situation the Government is going through after the migratory crisis in Ceuta and the corruption cases affecting the Executive.

During a press conference at the PP headquarters, after the meeting of the steering committee headed by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, Sémper questioned whether the CIS results can be taken seriously in these circumstances and questioned whether the Government can come out favorably in the polls after the latest controversies."Is it credible or do we have to take seriously that after corruption cases and after what has happened in Ceuta, this means that the Government is doing well? Are we all going to participate in this fiction?", he asked.

The latest barometer keeps the PSOE as the most voted party in hypothetical general elections, although the socialists fall two points compared to July. Sémper took advantage of these data to question the evolution of the CIS, which he reproached for having lost part of the reputation that, in his opinion, it previously had as a public body. "It's a joke and it's a mockery that today we are like this. When it has been technically proven, by independent professionals and recognized solvency, that the CIS is being used in a partisan way", he maintained.

The popular spokesman also focused on the barometer's methodology itself. Specifically, he criticized that this survey did not include a specific question about citizens' assessment of the Government's management of the Ceuta crisis. "It's a bad joke", Sémper said, before questioning whether the CIS can offer a reliable photograph of public opinion if it does not address one of the issues that, according to the PP, is marking current political events."But what kind of mind can conceive of that?", he emphasized.

Sémper's criticism was not limited to the latest barometer. The PP spokesman denounced the "manipulation" that, in his opinion, the CIS has suffered during Pedro Sánchez's years in government and announced that his party will act on this body if Alberto Núñez Feijóo reaches the Presidency of the Government.

The objective, as he has defended, would be to recover "the prestige of many public bodies, among them the CIS".

Sémper has also questioned whether citizens continue to grant credibility to the surveys of the body directed by Tezanos and has recalled that its operation is financed with public funds. In this sense, he has insisted on questioning whether its results can be interpreted as a reliable photograph of the political situation.

 Tezanos' CIS indicates a 2-vote drop for the PSOE

The migratory crisis in Ceuta after the massive entry of more than 70,000 people into the autonomous city has already shown its consequences regarding citizens' votes for the PSOE. In this sense, if general elections were held today, the socialists would remain, according to the latest barometer from the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) of José Félix Tezanos, as the most voted force. However, it would suffer a two-point drop compared to July. 

On the other hand, the Popular Party of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, would remain as the second force and the far-right Vox of Santiago Abascal would consolidate with a third place with the highest growth of the month. On the left, Sumar hits lows and Podemos accelerates its comeback. 

For its part, Se Acabó la Fiesta (SALF) obtains 1.8%, below the figure recorded in the previous barometer. The result keeps Alvise Pérez's party above several territorial parties, although still far from the main state-level forces.
