Vox has decided to definitively expel Javier Ortega Smith after resolving the disciplinary file opened against him. The party's Guarantees Committee concluded that the former secretary general incurred a very serious infraction by not complying with a resolution adopted by the national leadership.
The conflict originated when Ortega Smith refused to accept his replacement as spokesperson for the Vox municipal group in the Madrid City Council, a change that had been previously approved by the party's National Executive Committee.
Following this refusal, the party opened a disciplinary procedure and temporarily suspended their membership while analyzing the facts. Finally, the internal body responsible for ensuring compliance with the rules decided to impose definitive expulsion.
With this resolution, Ortega Smith loses his status as a member of Vox, in a context marked by internal tensions within the party and disagreements between the leader and the party's leadership in recent months.
