Urda (Toledo) has become the center of a large emergency operation after the train accident recorded shortly before 9:00 AM this Wednesday, October 28. According to sources from the 112 Emergency Service informed Europa Press, the incident occurred at 8:54 AM at the town's station. The first indications suggest that a Renfe AVE train may have hit an Iryo train from behind, which would have caused the derailment of two carriages of the private operator's train, according to information provided to Europa Press by sources from the Ministry of Transport.

Adif, the railway infrastructure administrator, specified that the "incident" occurred between Mora, Orgaz, and Urda, at kilometer point 118, between a Renfe train and an Iryo company train covering the Madrid-Seville route. The incident has forced the interruption of circulation on the Madrid-Andalucía high-speed line.

Castilla-La Mancha activates Platecam

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has activated the Territorial Emergency Plan of Castilla-La Mancha (Platecam) in the Emergency, Operational Situation 1 phase in Toledo. Sources from the regional Executive have detailed to Europa Press that, after the activation of the plan, the 112 Emergency and Urgency Attention and Coordination Service has mobilized all involved action groups and has launched the Advanced Command Post (PMA), from which the emergency is monitored and operational decisions are made to tackle it.

The implementation of Platecam entails the convening of the Operational Coordination Center (Cecop) at the 112 Service facilities, from where the emergency is monitored and assessed, and the Plan's direction adapts the response level based on the evolution of the situation and any incidents that may occur.

Civil Guard personnel, fire brigades from the Provincial Consortium of Toledo and Ciudad Real, volunteers from Civil Protection groups, and health resources from the Castilla-La Mancha Health Service (Sescam) have been dispatched to the scene of the accident. They are setting up an Advanced Medical Post for triage, initial medical attention, and the transfer of injured individuals to hospitals. Additionally, the psychosocial care teams from Cruz Roja and the College of Social Workers have been pre-alerted.
