The ERC spokesperson in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has responded with irony to the PP after the party resorted to Julio Iglesias to answer an interview request from Ignacio Escolar. "Have you already gotten rid of Feijóo and he's running?" wrote the republican spokesperson, directly quoting the popular party's publication.

The exchange began with a message from the PP on X about interviews granted by Pedro Sánchez. The party listed his appearances on El Intermedio, Mañaneros, La Revuelta, and El País, in addition to his participation in Salvados scheduled for Sunday.

In contrast to that list, the popular party highlighted that Alberto Núñez Feijóo had appeared on Cadena SER on Friday and would be interviewed over the weekend in El País and La Vanguardia. "The Spain without walls that we defend is also shown in details like these," they added.

Escolar recalls he has been requesting an interview for years

The director of 'elDiario.es', Ignacio Escolar, responded to the message to point out that his outlet also wants to interview the president of the PP and that his requests have not prospered.

"Hello @ppopular. At @eldiarioes we would also like to interview Alberto Núñez Feijóo. We have been asking for it since he became president of the PP. Without success", he wrote.

The party's account replied with a reference to the singer: "You should start with Julio Iglesias". Rufián intervened on that response with his question about whether the popular party had replaced Feijóo with the artist.

The 'elDiario.es' investigation into Julio Iglesias

The PP's allusion comes after the investigation published by 'elDiario.es' in collaboration with Univision Noticias, which gathered the accusations of two former employees of Julio Iglesias about alleged sexual assaults during their work in the singer's residences in the Dominican Republic and Bahamas. The events recounted by both are set in 2021.

A domestic service employee and a physiotherapist described sexual pressures, touching, insults, and humiliations in their work environment. These are the accusations of the women gathered by the journalistic investigation, which the singer has rejected as false.
