The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, appeared this Friday from Ceuta after meeting in the Assembly Palace with the president of the autonomous city, Juan Jesús Vivas; the Government delegate, Miguel Ángel Pérez; the heads of the National Police and the Civil Guard, the directors of the Temporary Immigrant Stay Center (CETI) and the Red Cross.
During his statement, Sánchez assured that the Executive is taking charge of the "emotional state" and the "anguish" situation that the people of Ceuta are going through due to the migratory crisis, and has conveyed a message of institutional support, stating that "all of Spain is with the people of Ceuta". Likewise, the president announced that buoys will be deployed on the Tarajal breakwater "to comply with the Supreme Court ruling" and create a physical barrier, all of this with the purpose of facilitating repatriation at the border.
Regarding the origin of the situation, Sánchez relates it to the mafias that traffic in human beings. He also highlighted the need to "cooperate with Morocco", to thus give a "more forceful response" to the crisis, which allows for speeding up repatriations.
