The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has celebrated the recent news of reinstating peace with a ceasefire between the United States and Iran for two weeks. Nevertheless, he has maintained his defense of "no to war" through his social network X saying that "what is needed now: diplomacy, international legality and peace".
The message he has published maintains that "ceasefires are always good news", clarifying that this fact "cannot make us forget the chaos, destruction, and lost lives." In the same way and maintaining his confrontation with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, he states: "The Government of Spain will not applaud those who set the world on fire", and, likewise, demands "diplomacy, international legality, and peace."
Ceasefires are always good news. Especially if they lead to a just and lasting peace. But momentary relief cannot make us forget the chaos, destruction, and lives lost.

The Government of Spain will not applaud those who set the world on fire because they…
The president of Spain is not the only one who has reacted to the possible peace in the Iran war. Thus, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, using her X profile, has stated: "I welcome the two-week ceasefire agreed last night by the United States and Iran. It brings a desired de-escalation."
I welcome the two-week ceasefire the US and Iran agreed last night. It brings much-needed de-escalation.

I thank Pakistan for its mediation.
Now it is crucial that negotiations for an enduring solution to this conflict continue.
We will continue coordinating with our partners…
The ceasefire
In the early hours of this Wednesday, the National Security Council of Iran has corroborated reinstating peace with a ceasefire with the United States for two weeks. During this period the ayatollah regime and the American president, Donald Trump, are going to carry out the peace negotiations -starting this Friday- in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, relying on a 10-point plan that the Iranians have presented.
Iran's news agencies, ‘Fars’ and ‘Tasnim’, have reported that Tehran has confirmed Trump's ceasefire through a Council statement in which they assure Iran's victory, assuring that “almost all war objectives” they had fulfilled.
The ten-point plan proposed by Iran to Donald Trump to achieve a ceasefire includes several key conditions. Firstly, Iran demands that both the United States and Israel completely stop their attacks against the country. Furthermore, it requests that the offensives directed against Iran's allies in the region also cease.
Another of the points proposes that any transit through the Strait of Hormuz be carried out in a coordinated manner with the Iranian Army, with the aim of avoiding incidents and guaranteeing control of the area. Likewise, Iran calls for the total withdrawal of US troops deployed in the region.
The plan also addresses the economic aspect. Tehran demands the lifting of all sanctions imposed against the country, both the so-called primary sanctions and secondary ones. Added to this is the request to eliminate restrictions affecting its assets and properties abroad, so that they can be used normally again.
Finally, Iran requests that the resolutions approved by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that are directed against Tehran be withdrawn.
The President of the United States has reacted to these latest events through his social network highlighting that it is “a great day for World Peace” and states: “This could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!”
Israel does not cease its attacks in Lebanon
Despite this news, Israel has spoken out this Wednesday announcing that it accepts the ceasefire but that the plan does not include Lebanon, so it will not cease its attacks on the region. Thus, it has been communicated from the Prime Minister's Office, which, through a message, has said that “supports the decision” under the condition that Iran "immediately opens the straits" and ceases its bombings in the region.
However, the document maintains that the ceasefire does not "does not include Lebanon”.
