The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has celebrated the victory of the Brazilian leader, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in the second round of the presidential elections and, in a message disseminated on X and collected by Europa Press, has predicted that a similar result will be repeated in Spain in the elections on November 29.

“Great victory for Lula! What happened in Brazil will happen in Spain,” Sánchez wrote, also stating that “the comeback of global progressivism has just begun.”

Albares underlines the strategic relationship between Spain and Brazil

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has also congratulated Lula da Silva for a “brilliant and democratic victory” and has highlighted that the Government of Brazil is “a strategic partner of Spain”, with a shared agenda of support for multilateralism, the United Nations, the defense of democracy and the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur.

In an interview on RNE, Albares insisted that Spain will continue working with this “very important” partner and stressed that both executives share the same line on democracy, foreign policy, defense of multilateralism and “progress and social justice for our peoples”.

The minister also pointed out that, despite the forecasts placing opposition candidate Flávio Bolsonaro as the favorite, elections are “the only poll that counts”, because they reflect what citizens express at the polls. In this context, he expressed his conviction that Pedro Sánchez can win again on 29N.

Belarra and Delgado celebrate the victory of the Brazilian president

The number 1 of Frente Amplio for the Community of Madrid for 29N and spokesperson for Más Madrid in the region, Emilio Delgado, and the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, have also celebrated the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil.

“Today Brazil wins, tomorrow Trump loses, then we win Spain,” Delgado wrote in a message published on X, in which he stated that “neither all the technological and financial power, nor the interference of Zionism, nor Trump’s threats have been able to overcome the strength of those from below.” “Lula is already a legend,” he added.

Belarra, for her part, congratulated the people of Brazil because, as she pointed out, they not only win an election, but also defeat “imperialism, genocides, technoligarchs and the masters of a world that must be changed from top to bottom.”

Lula vindicates democracy and sets the priorities of his new mandate

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has celebrated his victory with a speech in which he has vindicated the triumph of democracy against “denialism” and has set as priorities of his new mandate the regulation of digital platforms, technological education, the protection of health and an active role of the federal government in public safety.

The progressive leader has achieved a new mandate after winning with 51.79% of the valid votes, equivalent to 64.2 million, compared to 48.21%, or 59.8 million, of the far-right candidate and son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, Flávio Bolsonaro. With this result, Lula achieves a historic milestone, becoming the first candidate since the return of democracy in Brazil to reverse a disadvantage after finishing second in the first round and finally winning the Presidency.
