Miguel Ángel Torres has been appointed magistrate of the Seventh Section of the Provincial Court of Malaga, based in Melilla, by the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), to reinforce the six positions of the trial court in Ceuta. This was detailed by the CGPJ in a press release stating that Torres will carry out support tasks for the six positions of the Civil and Instruction Section of this judicial body to address the migratory crisis in the autonomous city for a period of six months, extendable.
This move was proposed by the acting president of the High Court of Justice (TSJ) of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, Beatriz Pérez, since Torres is, of the seven petitioners, "the one with the most seniority in the judicial career and given his experience in civil and criminal jurisdictions," she states. In addition, she indicates that the magistrate will reinforce the Civil and Instruction Section of the Ceuta Trial Court for a period of half a year, to which Pérez added: "Extendable in the event that the renewal of the measure is deemed necessary, given the increase in workload due to the migratory crisis suffered by the autonomous city on July 30 and 31."
This also coincides with the fact that, this Friday, a second service commission is being processed to reinforce the Ceuta trial court, "in this case to provide support to the position with competence in matters of violence against women," it indicates. On the other hand, the organization also points out that on August 25, the president of the TSJ of Andalusia agreed to establish the reinforcement of the guard service in the Ceuta trial court, "as long as the extraordinary situation generated by the migratory crisis lasts."
For his part, Félix Bolaños promised that the Ministry will finance and authorize "immediately" the reinforcements requested by the CGPJ and the High Court of Justice of Andalusia. Likewise, during the Joint National Security Commission in the Congress of Deputies with the main topic being the Ceuta crisis, the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños affirmed that he will authorize and finance more reinforcements in the autonomous city as soon as the General Council of the Judiciary makes the "formal request."
