This Wednesday begins the period for parties and coalitions to submit their candidacies for Congress and the Senate to the provincial electoral boards for the elections on November 29, a procedure that will close next Monday, October 26.
Having passed the deadline to register possible coalitions, the formations are now finalizing their definitive lists and, predictably, will wait until the last moment to reveal the complete order of their ballots.
The PSOE advances with its lists and negotiates with the Broad Front
The PSOE Federal Committee approved its candidacies last Saturday, while the Popular Party (PP) is gradually revealing its main aspirants. In parallel, the socialists keep conversations open with the Broad Front to close the composition of the Senate lists, after the agreement reached to run in coalition under the name of “Senate of Progress”.
According to the approach put forward by the formation, the socialists will head all joint lists, in a negotiation that is still pending to finalize the last names and the final distribution in the constituencies.
PP and Vox seek a formula for the Senate
For their part, the PP and Vox have confirmed that they are also holding conversations to try to find a formula that prevents the Upper House from falling under the control of the left. Both formations continue to adjust their strategy as the end of the official deadline to register candidacies approaches.
Publication in the BOE and official proclamation
The candidacies presented will be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on Wednesday, October 28, at which time a period will open to correct possible irregularities before the corresponding electoral boards.
The lists will be formally proclaimed on November 2 and will be published in the BOE the following day, after which only appeals to the courts will be possible.
