The Spanish Executive has dismissed the ambassador of Israel, Ana Sálomon, as announced by the Official State Gazette (BOE) this Wednesday. This move takes place after the ambassador was called for consultations in September due to the clashes with the prime minister of Israel, Benjamín Netanyahu.
The cessation of the former ambassador of Israel since 2021, is formalized “at the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and after deliberation by the Council of Ministers at its meeting on March 10, 2026” and gratitude is conveyed to Sálomon for “the services rendered”.
Ana Sálomon was called for consultations in September after the Government considered “slanderous” the accusations made against Spain and “unacceptable”, the measures against Yolanda Díaz and Sira Rego by Netanyahu, after Pedro Sánchez's proposals to stop the genocide in Gaza.
Let's remember that Israel still does not have an ambassador from its country in Madrid since when the departure of Rodica Radian-Gordon occurred, her replacement, resigned from the post to assume another embassy. The Israeli representation is held by an interim chargé d'affaires, Dana Erlich, since August 2025. Spain also does not have an ambassador in Tel Aviv since September 2025.
