During these last few days, various data have been released on the number of people who crossed the border and arrived in Ceuta from Morocco, as the situation has been somewhat chaotic and has caused some people to rush when releasing information about this migratory crisis.

This same Tuesday, the Government has dismissed a civil servant from the National Security department after she published last Friday the figure of some 49,000 people who would have entered Ceuta last week from Morocco. This decision taken by the Government has been carried out due to the loss of confidence in that person, which is why it implies her dismissal from the position she held until now; however, it does not imply the loss of her status as a civil servant.

Her dismissal is due to the fact that, after the massive arrival of people from the neighboring African country, this civil servant, in charge of communication in the National Security department, dependent on the Presidency of the Government, published on the website of this body a report in which it was indicated that the existing estimate at that time on the number of people who would have entered Spain was 49,000.

That report she released was withdrawn shortly after from the website, and Government sources had to come out and say that it was not an official figure. Therefore, that same day, after withdrawing the report, the Ministry of Interior reported that it estimated that some 50,000 people had crossed the border in Ceuta, a figure that has increased over time.
