The Kings, Felipe VI and Letizia, will sleep in Ceuta at the end of what will be their first official visit to this autonomous city, scheduled for next Tuesday, before traveling the next day to Melilla, as confirmed by sources from Zarzuela.

The trip will take place two and a half months after the entry of more than 80,000 migrants into Ceuta from Morocco and will be the first to both autonomous cities by the head of state since the one made by Juan Carlos I and Sofía in November 2007.

Pending agenda and first contact at the Royal Palace

Pending the full agenda of both trips, the Kings are expected to have a first direct contact with the authorities and representatives of civil society in Ceuta and Melilla during the traditional reception at the Royal Palace on the occasion of October 12, to which they have been invited for the occasion.

The consulted sources have specified that, for now, no further details have been released about the content of the official program of the visit, which will take place on October 13 and 14.

Felipe VI's calls during the crisis in Ceuta

Felipe VI spoke by phone in the first hours of the massive entry into Ceuta with both its president, Juan Jesús Vivas, and that of Melilla, Juan José Imbroda, to inquire about the situation, and received the Ceuta leader at the Marivent Palace last August 6.

The president of the autonomous city of Ceuta, Juan Vivas, has valued as "very important" for the locality and "for Spain" as a whole the visit that the Kings will make next October 13, and has underlined the "involvement" that, in his opinion, Felipe VI is demonstrating with the autonomous city.

Vox's reaction to the royal visit

The spokesperson for Vox in Congress, Pepa Rodríguez de Millán, has assured that her party welcomes the news "with great joy" and has maintained that the head of state's trip to the two autonomous cities is part of normality.

After attending the inauguration of the XII Ibero-American Parliamentary Forum, presided over by the King in Congress, Rodríguez de Millán stressed that her party is "very happy" and that, in her opinion, "it is normal". The Vox spokesperson added, in reference to the visit, that her party considers it to be "normal".
