The Minister of Health, Mónica García, has recognized today that the Executive of which she is a part is still far from having prepared a Royal Decree Maricarmen that responds to the needs of the citizenry, and has warned that “half measures or patches” are no longer useful.
García has spoken through a publication on her X social media account, at a time when the Government faces increasing political and social pressure due to the encampment installed in the Puerta del Sol after last Saturday's demonstration, called to demand measures that facilitate access to housing and stop evictions.

Prohibiting evictions for vulnerable populations, curbing seasonal rentals, regulating room rentals, expelling vulture funds from our homes, and extending rentals with automatic renewal is the undeniable starting point. Support for protesters' demands
“We are still far from having a Real Decreto Maricarmen that satisfies what the people of our country need and that we can approve in the Council of Ministers,” said the minister, who also leads Más Madrid, in a message in which she distanced herself from any formula that does not include profound changes.
In that same message, Mónica García has backed several of the demands made by the protesters, including “prohibiting evictions of vulnerable populations,” “putting a stop to seasonal rentals,” “regulating room rentals,” “expelling vulture funds” from housing, and “the extension of rentals with automatic renewal.”
The minister has defended that these measures constitute the “unwaivable starting point” in the debate on housing, and has concluded her message with a far-reaching political warning: “Half measures and patches are no longer valid. Either you are with speculation or you are with families.”
A message amid high tension over access to housing
Mónica García's words come after the encampment set up in the Puerta del Sol, following last Saturday's demonstration, in which measures were demanded to facilitate access to housing and prohibit evictions.
